Carrier oils are derived from the fatty portion of a plant, usually from the seeds, kernels or the nuts. Each oil offers a different combination of therapeutic properties and characteristics, depending on the therapeutic benefit being sought. Range Products stocks an extensive selection of organic carrier oils that can be used for your skin and aromatherapy. For over 20 years, we supplied oils to the aromatherapy, fragrances, flavour, food and chemical industries. Contact us today to find out about the different types of carrier oils we supply.

Why use carrier oils?

The term ‘carrier oil’ refers to oils that carry the essential oils onto the skin. They do not evaporate, making them perfect for diluting stronger oils. When diluting an essential oil with a carrier oil, you can control the concentration.

Types of carrier oil:

  • Apricot oil
  • Sweet almond carrier oil
  • Grape seed oil
  • Avocado oil
  • Olive oil
  • Sesame oil
  • Evening primrose
  • Canola (rapeseed)
  • Sunflower oil
  • Jojoba oil
  • Emu oil
  • Castor oil
  • Borage seed oil
Sweet almond oil and grapeseed oil are very popular carrier oils.

Carrier oils for your skin

Studies have shown that Emu oil aids in reducing scar formation of burn wounds, muscle sprains, and arthritis due to its strong anti-inflammatory properties. Also, considered an anti-fungal substance, Emu oil can help treat ailments such as athletes foot, foot fungus, toe nail fungus, finger nail fungus and more. The moisturising properties also help to relieve symptoms of eczema. Primrose is also a great carrier oil for your face, treating eczema, scale-like dry skin (ichthyosis vulgaris) and skin irritation. Supplementing with gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) can help restore the youthfulness of skin and hair as well as help improve general well-being.

Carrier oils for your hair

Add moisture and shine to your hair without the use of expensive cosmetics or dangerous chemicals. For thick unruly hair try Coconut, Argan, Avocado or Extra-virgin olive oil. For thinner hair that needs more life try Pomegranate Seed or Rosemary Oil. Jojoba oil is great for all hair types. Apply these oils to your roots and scalp, like you would with conditioner. Put on a shower cap and let it soak in for about half an hour, then wash your hair; feel the silkiness.
