Now that the weather is warmer, it is the perfect time to think about using essential oils as natural deodorants and body fresheners. Using essential oils with antibacterial and deodorant properties in baths, showers, deodorants, sprays and body products are a brilliant way to keep you feeling fresh and smelling great.

Tea tree for example has antibacterial, anti-fungal, antiviral, antiseptic and antimicrobial properties, making it an excellent oil for stopping odour causing bacteria in its tracks. Essential oils with Astringent properties such as Rosemary or Lemon could help to reduce sweating. Clary Sage is a strong antibacterial and deodorant as well as good for soothing for the skin. Peppermint is another good option with its cooling properties as well as its antimicrobial benefits. Lemongrass, Lavender, Eucalyptus Peppermint, Thyme, Bergamot, Orange, Lime and Mandarin are all also great options when it comes to fending off those unwanted odours. So why not try keeping fresh naturally this summer.

Here is a natural deodorant recipe that we thought you might like to try:

1/4 Cup Witch hazel
1/8 Cup Distilled Water
1 tbsp Arrow Root powder
1 tsp Magnesium Chloride flakes
1/4 tsp Xanthum gum (to thicken – optional)
10 drops essential oil
Mix all ingredients together thoroughly until combined and pour it into a roll on bottle.
