Calendula Infused Oil

Calendula Infused Oil is produced by macerating Calendula officinalis flowers in a blend of Soya Bean (Glycine max) and Sweet Almond (Prunus amygdalus dulcis) oils. This infusion process extracts lipid-soluble compounds from the calendula. The oil also contains tocopherol (Vitamin E) and Rosmarinus officinalis (Rosemary) leaf extract for preservation.

Historically, Calendula officinalis has been used topically in traditional medicine for its purported effects on skin conditions. The maceration process allows for the transfer of certain plant compounds into the carrier oils. Calendula has anti-inflammatory properties that can help to ease inflammation and speed up recovery, especially inflamed, dry or itchy skin complaints. It can also be used on spider, thread or varicose veins as well as insect bites and stings.

Note: when using it to heal wounds it is important to make sure that the area has been thoroughly cleaned first as Calendula?s effective ability to rapidly knit the skin back together can cause dirt to become trapped inside.
