Received my Sandalwood Australian Essential Oil in a chic amber bottle. The first whiff? Pure Australia! Having tried several oils, this one's authenticity is commendable. The steam-distilled method truly makes a difference. A slight downside is the cost, but it's a premium product after all. Kudos to Range Products!

About Sandalwood Australian Essential Oil

What Is Australian Sandalwood Essential Oil?

Australian Sandalwood Essential Oil is derived from Santalum spicatum, a species indigenous to the drier regions of Western Australia. Unlike Indian Sandalwood (Santalum album), which is critically endangered in the wild due to over-harvesting, Australian Sandalwood is harvested under strict government licence through the Western Australian Sandalwood Act, making it one of the most sustainably sourced sandalwood oils available globally.

The oil is extracted via steam distillation from the stem, branches, and rootball of mature trees, a process that typically takes 4–7 days and contributes to the oil’s exceptional depth and complexity of aroma.

Its key active constituent, alpha-santalol, is responsible for many of the oil’s therapeutic properties, including its well-documented calming, anti-inflammatory, and skin-regenerating effects. The oil also contains beta-santalolbisabolol, trans-farnesol, and cis-lanceol, a chemical profile unique to the Australian species.

FAQs

What makes Australian Sandalwood different from Indian Sandalwood?

Australian Sandalwood (Santalum spicatum) is sustainably harvested under strict WA government regulation, making it a genuine and traceable product. Indian Sandalwood (Santalum album) is critically endangered and frequently adulterated. While Indian Sandalwood has a higher alpha-santalol content, Australian Sandalwood offers excellent therapeutic benefits, guaranteed purity, and superior sustainability credentials.

Is Australian Sandalwood Essential Oil safe to use on skin?

Yes, Australian Sandalwood Essential Oil is approved by Australia’s TGA for direct topical skin application, though we recommend diluting to 1–2% for facial use and 2–4% for body application. Always perform a patch test first. Avoid during pregnancy and keep away from children.

Can I buy Sandalwood Essential Oil in bulk from Range Products?

Yes. Range Products supplies Australian Sandalwood Essential Oil in sizes from 15ml through to 1kg, suitable for individual buyers, practitioners, and commercial manufacturers. Larger wholesale quantities are available — contact us for wholesale pricing and availability.

What oils blend well with Sandalwood?

Sandalwood blends beautifully with floral oils (Rose Geranium, Lavender), citrus oils (Lemon, Bergamot), resins (Frankincense, Vetiver), spices (Black Pepper), and Australian natives (Lemon Myrtle, Fragonia, Kunzea). It functions as a base note and fixative, grounding and anchoring any blend.

What are the payment methods for wholesale orders?
