Stretch Mark Blend

Stretch marks are scarring caused by tearing to the dermal layer of the skin. Usually appearing during a period of rapid growth, such as pregnancy, puberty or weight gain (fat or muscle). Over time they will naturally fade to varying degrees but they will never completely disappear. Although they are not dangerous, they can sometimes be tender or itchy and leave people feeling self conscious. Most people naturally associate them with women and pregnancy but anyone can end up with stretch marks. So if you are looking to move along the healing process and fade those lines a little faster, here is a massage oil recipe that could help.

Start by filling a 250ml bottle 2/3 of the way up with dried Calendula flowers. They are rich in Vitamin E, great for helping to heal scars and boost the skin.

Add to the bottle:
120ml Apricot kernel oil. It’s naturally high in Vitamin A, a retinoid which smoothes and revitalises skin and has been shown to reduce the appearance of stretch marks.
40ml Argan Oil to help improve elasticity and reduce fine lines and scars.
40ml Rosehip Oil, it contains both vitamins E & A for scar healing and increased skin cell turnover.
Leave it for 3-4 weeks to infuse, shaking regularly.

Then add:
40 Drops Lavender, to promote wound healing and boost collagen production.
20 Drops Bitter Orange, for its skin toning and conditioning properties.
20 Drops Frankincense, well known for its scar reducing properties.
20 Drops Rose Bulgarian. It contains hyaluronic acid which stimulates collagen production and improves skin health. Can be Substituted with 3% Dilution if you want to reduce the cost.
Give it another good shake. It can then be massaged into the area daily but don’t forget to always do a skin patch test first.
