Cinnamon Bark Essential Oil (Cinnamomum zeylanicum)

Cinnamon bark essential oil is steam distilled from the bark of Cinnamomum zeylanicum, the tree that gives us Ceylon cinnamon. Ours comes from Sri Lanka. It has the warm, sweet and spicy scent people expect from cinnamon, fuller and sweeter than the oil taken from the leaves of the same tree. It is one of the strongest smelling oils we sell, so a little goes a long way in candles, wax melts, room sprays, potpourri and festive spice blends. • Candles and wax melts: Use it as a small part of your total fragrance load and blend it with softer oils. Cinnamon bark can take over a blend quickly.
• Room sprays and potpourri: A few drops with sweet orange or clove bud oil gives a warm, spiced scent.
• Diffusion: Use 1 to 2 drops, mixed with a milder oil such as sweet orange. Too much can feel harsh on the nose and eyes.
• Skin products: Cinnamon bark is a strong skin sensitiser, so we do not recommend it for homemade skincare. If you formulate products, work within the IFRA limits for your product type and patch test.
• Blends well with: sweet orange, clove bud, ginger, frankincense, patchouli and lemon.
• Safety: Keep away from eyes and mucous membranes, do not ingest, and keep out of reach of children and pets. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding or under medical care, speak to a healthcare professional before use.
