About Eucalyptus Essential Oil

Eucalyptus oil is one of the most recognisable and widely used essential oils in the world, and Range Products supplies it pure and undiluted in bulk sizes from 50ml through to 5kg. Our oil is steam distilled from the leaves of Eucalyptus globulus, the species prized for its high 1,8-cineole (eucalyptol) content. That single compound is what gives the oil its sharp, fresh, instantly familiar aroma and makes globulus the workhorse choice for cleaning, aromatherapy and manufacturing alike.

Because we sell it as a raw ingredient rather than a finished retail product, the same bottle suits a household stocking the laundry cupboard, a soap or candle maker buying by the kilogram, and a cleaning or cosmetics business that needs a consistent, no-fillers supply.

You might also like our Eucalyptus Radiata Essential Oil, Eucalyptus Blue Mallee Essential Oil and Eucalyptus Lemon Essential Oil.

Benefits

  • Multi-purpose: one oil covers cleaning, laundry, aromatherapy, soap and candle making
  • Strong and concentrated, so a little goes a long way and bulk sizes last
  • Fresh, clean scent that helps mask odours and deodorise fabrics, bins and surfaces
  • Consistent, predictable quality for soap makers, candle makers and manufacturers
  • Cost-effective in bulk, with sizes and wholesale options to match any volume
  • Easy to blend with other essential oils for custom scents

How to Use

Cleaning and laundry

Eucalyptus oil has long been a go-to for lifting sticky residue, adhesive, label glue and chewing gum, and for cutting through grease and grime. Add a few drops to your wash or a wool-wash soak to freshen fabrics, or dilute it in water for a fresh-smelling surface wipe. A little goes a long way.

Aromatherapy and diffusing

Add a few drops to a diffuser, vaporiser or a bowl of hot water for a clearing, uplifting aroma. It is a popular choice through the cooler months and blends well with tea tree, lemon, peppermint, lavender and rosemary.

Bath, sauna and steam

A drop or two, well diluted, brings a spa-like freshness to a bath or sauna. Always disperse it in a carrier first rather than adding it neat to water.

Soap, candle and cosmetic making

Eucalyptus globulus is a reliable note in cold-process soap, candles and rinse-off cosmetics. Add it at the recommended usage rate for your application and keep a record of your batch percentages.

On the skin

Eucalyptus oil should always be diluted in a carrier oil before any skin contact, and a patch test is sensible. It is for external use only.

Dilution Guidelines

General topical: 2–4% (4–8 drops per 10 ml carrier oil)
Facial use: 1–2% (2–4 drops per 10 ml carrier oil)

FAQs

What is the difference between Eucalyptus globulus, radiata and citriodora?

Globulus is the classic, high-cineole oil with a strong, sharp scent. Radiata is gentler and softer in aroma, and citriodora (lemon eucalyptus) has a fresh, lemony smell. This product is globulus, the most widely used all-rounder.

How long does eucalyptus oil last, and does it expire?

Stored well in a cool, dark place with the lid tight, pure eucalyptus oil keeps for several years. Over time the aroma slowly fades and the oil can oxidise, so it is best used within two to three years of opening.

What dilution should I use on skin?

A common starting point is around 1 to 2 percent eucalyptus oil in a carrier oil, which is roughly 1 to 2 drops per 5ml of carrier. Always patch test first and keep it for external use only.

Will eucalyptus oil stain or damage surfaces and fabrics?

It does not usually stain fabric, but neat essential oil can mark or soften some plastics, painted finishes and varnishes. Dilute it and spot-test an out-of-the-way area before using it on a new surface.

Can I use it in a homemade cleaning spray, and at what ratio?

A simple starting point is 10 to 20 drops of eucalyptus oil per 500ml of water with a little dispersant or mild detergent so the oil mixes through. Shake before each use and spot-test surfaces first.
