Also called Tween 20 or Sorbitan Monolaurate. It is used as an (oil in water) emulsifying agent, surfactant, solubilising agent or hydrotrope. It has an HLB (Hydrophilic – Lipophilic Balance) Value of 16.7 and can be used to solubilise fragrance or essential oils into water or surfactant based products such as body washes or toners etc. It is soluble in water and glycerine and partially soluble in fractionated coconut oil and mineral oil.
