Carpets have a hard life. Between pets, shoes, spills and everything else they go through on a daily basis, sometimes you just have to give them a bit of TLC. Sprinkling a blend of Bicarb and essential oils over your carpet can help remove stains and unwanted odours, leaving it looking and smelling fresh and clean.
The essential oil choice is really up to you but we recommend strong scents with anti-bacterial and anti-microbial properties, such as citrus oils like lemon, lime, grapefruit or bergamot. Or naturally deodorising all rounders like lavender, peppermint or eucalyptus. Any of these alone or in a blend will work their magic on your carpet.
2 cups Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda)
50 Drops Essential oil
In a jar, add essential oil gradually, drop by drop to the bicarb, continually stirring to avoid clumps. Leave sealed in the jar for a couple of days to allow the oil to be fully absorbed by the powder before sprinkling. Sprinkle evenly over your carpet or rug and leave over night. Vacuum up in the morning.

When it comes to the perfect blend, it is very much down to personal preference. What smells like a delicious aroma to you, could send someone else rushing for the door. However, we have made a little chart to help you to decide where to begin. Essential oils generally blend well with members of their own group or with those in the groups either side. Hopefully this simple blending circle can assist you with your blend.
