In winter, fighting dry, chapped hands can be a losing battle. So we have come up with a nourishing overnight hand balm recipe, loaded with the combined benefits of  Raspberry Seed, Jojoba and Calendula oils, Cocoa and Shea butter and Sandalwood and Lavender essential oils,  to help heal your hard working hands while you sleep.

Into a glass bowl, add:

25g Beeswax – Works to lock in moisture, protect and repair rough dry skin.

30g Organic Unrefined Shea Butter – Deeply penetrating to moisturise, while at the same time,    providing protection against dryness from both windburn and the sun.

15g Coco Butter – An excellent moisturiser and skin protector against dryness and damage.

15g Jojoba Oil – A great moisturising, skin protecting ingredient that is very similar to the  body’s own natural oil.

10g Raspberry seed Oil – Contains Vitamins, A,C and E, and rich in antioxidants, which can reduce skin aging and increase elasticity.  It is full of essential fatty acids and Ellagitannins, so it is a great skin balancer and has a soothing, anti-inflammatory effect on dry skin, rashes and conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.  Its Phytosterols content makes it one of the best oils for moisturising.

5g Calendula Infused oil – Healing and soothing for dry, cracked skin.

2g Natural Vitamin E – Hydrating, rejuvenating and restoring.

Place the bowl over a pan of simmering water and allow the solid ingredients to gently melt. Do not over heat.

Remove from heat and allow to cool a little before adding:

15 drops Lavender Essential Oil – Helps to balance, hydrate and repair dried skin.

10 drops Sandalwood Essential Oil – Encourages moisture to the skin.

5 drops Patchouli Essential Oil – Helps to soothe and heal chapped skin while protecting it with its antibacterial and anti-fungal properties.

Stir well and pour into a glass or PET jar. Allow to set.

Cover your hands with balm before bed and allow it to work its magic. If you have worries about oily sheets, wear some cotton gloves or cover your hands with a pair of sock.

As the weather is getting colder and the wind is getting stronger, many of us are beginning to suffer from dry, cracked lips. Making your own healing and protecting balm is easy and the best way of making sure your lips are getting the best possible care this winter.

This recipe makes just under 160g of balm and combines some of our favourite ingredients to help sooth, heal and protect.

Into a small saucepan, weigh out:

40g Virgin Organic Coconut oil – To moisturise and help prevent lips from drying out.

30g Organic Unrefined Shea Butter – Deeply penetrating to moisturise, while at the same time,    providing protection against dryness from both windburn and the sun.

25g Beeswax – Works to lock in moisture, protect and repair rough dry skin.

20g Coco Butter – An excellent moisturiser and skin protector against dryness and damage.

15g Hemp oil – Filled with nutrients that help tackle dryness, inflammation and oxidative damage.

15g Calendula Infused oil – Healing and soothing for dry, cracked skin.

10g Jojoba Oil – Another moisturising, skin protecting ingredient that is very similar to the  body’s own natural oil.

2g Natural Vitamin E – Hydrating, rejuvenating and restoring.

Allow to cool and add:

20 drops Peppermint essential oil – Soothing, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory.

10 Drops German Blue Chamomile essential oil – Calming, soothing, softening, anti-inflammatory and hydrating.
