Here is an easy peasy, make it yourself at home recipe for hand sanitiser. All the ingredients are available from Range Products but as we are unfortunately not able to sell the Alcohol online and it is only available to buy in store, rubbing alcohol can be substituted if you are not local.
This will make 1kg
300g Aloe Vera Gel
600g Perfumers Grade Alcohol
15g Glycerine (optional)
10g Witch Hazel
5g Essential Oil (We recommend Teatree or Lavender, or both)
Most people associate dry, itchy skin, eczema or dermatitis with winter, but now the spring is here and the weather is getting warmer there are many other things that can trigger skin conditions. Pollen, swimming, air conditioning and sitting on grass are all potential irritants. So here is a blend that could help to soothe and heal those sore, raw, uncomfortable areas.
5 drops German Chamomile
5 drops Yarrow
3 drops Geranium
10 drops Lavender
2 drops Tea tree
Add it to a carrier oil, base cream or turn it into a nice soothing balm. For the balm you can either simply blend it into our balm base or use the recipe below if you are feeling more adventurous.
Recipe makes 100g:
35g Virgin organic Coconut oil
30g Bees Wax
15g Organic Cocoa Butter
10g Calendula infused oil
5g Cold Pressed Avocado Oil
4g Jojoba Oil
1g Vitamin E
Gently melt bees wax, coconut oil and cocoa butter together until all lumps have gone. Then add all the other ingredients and stir well. When it’s cool but not yet solid add your essential oil blend. Allow to set and it’s ready to work its magic.

Now that the weather is warmer, it is the perfect time to think about using essential oils as natural deodorants and body fresheners. Using essential oils with antibacterial and deodorant properties in baths, showers, deodorants, sprays and body products are a brilliant way to keep you feeling fresh and smelling great.

Tea tree for example has antibacterial, anti-fungal, antiviral, antiseptic and antimicrobial properties, making it an excellent oil for stopping odour causing bacteria in its tracks. Essential oils with Astringent properties such as Rosemary or Lemon could help to reduce sweating. Clary Sage is a strong antibacterial and deodorant as well as good for soothing for the skin. Peppermint is another good option with its cooling properties as well as its antimicrobial benefits. Lemongrass, Lavender, Eucalyptus Peppermint, Thyme, Bergamot, Orange, Lime and Mandarin are all also great options when it comes to fending off those unwanted odours. So why not try keeping fresh naturally this summer.

Here is a natural deodorant recipe that we thought you might like to try:

1/4 Cup Witch hazel
1/8 Cup Distilled Water
1 tbsp Arrow Root powder
1 tsp Magnesium Chloride flakes
1/4 tsp Xanthum gum (to thicken – optional)
10 drops essential oil
Mix all ingredients together thoroughly until combined and pour it into a roll on bottle.

Now that school is back in full swing, it could be a really good time to start thinking about head lice defence. Essential oils can be a great, natural, chemical free way to help with both prevention and removal of nits and their eggs, and could possibly be even more effective than some off the shelf products as lice become more resistant to insecticides.
Tea tree, lavender, clove, eucalyptus, aniseed, oregano, cInnamon Leaf, and peppermint essential oils have all shown in studies to be successful in killing and combatting both eggs and adult lice.
As lice are transferred from head to head contact, a leave in hair spray would be an excellent preventative measure that can be used every day without loading your children’s hair with chemicals.
For a daily spray, try mixing together in a bottle…
50 drops of your chosen essential oil(s) from the list above
20ml Jojoba oil
2ml Polysorbate 20
Top up with 100ml distilled water and spray the hair every morning before school.
If the lice have already invaded here is something you can try. In a personal study, Biologist and Journalist Lowana Veal tested various essential oils in a laboratory setting, to see the true effectiveness of certain oils in killing both eggs and adults. Her recommendation was to add 10 drops of essential oil to 50ml of an alcohol base, such as vodka or perfumers alcohol, rubbing it into the scalp and leaving it over night before washing it off in the morning with shampoo. Then rinse through with 100ml of 50:50 vinegar and water solution with 2 drops of the same chosen essential oil added. Her research found aniseed and oregano to be extremely effective. Stretch marks are scarring caused by tearing to the dermal layer of the skin. Usually appearing during a period of rapid growth, such as pregnancy, puberty or weight gain (fat or muscle). Over time they will naturally fade to varying degrees but they will never completely disappear. Although they are not dangerous, they can sometimes be tender or itchy and leave people feeling self conscious. Most people naturally associate them with women and pregnancy but anyone can end up with stretch marks. So if you are looking to move along the healing process and fade those lines a little faster, here is a massage oil recipe that could help.

Start by filling a 250ml bottle 2/3 of the way up with dried Calendula flowers. They are rich in Vitamin E, great for helping to heal scars and boost the skin.

Add to the bottle:
120ml Apricot kernel oil. It’s naturally high in Vitamin A, a retinoid which smoothes and revitalises skin and has been shown to reduce the appearance of stretch marks.
40ml Argan Oil to help improve elasticity and reduce fine lines and scars.
40ml Rosehip Oil, it contains both vitamins E & A for scar healing and increased skin cell turnover.
Leave it for 3-4 weeks to infuse, shaking regularly.

Then add:
40 Drops Lavender, to promote wound healing and boost collagen production.
20 Drops Bitter Orange, for its skin toning and conditioning properties.
20 Drops Frankincense, well known for its scar reducing properties.
20 Drops Rose Bulgarian. It contains hyaluronic acid which stimulates collagen production and improves skin health. Can be Substituted with 3% Dilution if you want to reduce the cost.
Give it another good shake. It can then be massaged into the area daily but don’t forget to always do a skin patch test first.
